Puhdistus

Kävin ensimmäistä kertaa Seinäjoen elokuvateatterissa Bio Marilynissa. Itse asiassa olin turhaan ennakkoluuloinen elokuvateatteria kohtaan, sillä sali oli kohtuu kokoinen ja penkit mukavia. Ainut miinus mielestäni oli, etteivät liput olleet paikkamerkittyjä. Suosittua leffaa katsoessa täytyy paikalle tulla hyvissä ajoin.

Illan elokuvaksi valikoitui Sofi Oksasen romaaniin perustuva Antti J. Jokisen ohjaama elokuva Puhdistus. En ole lukenut kirjaa, joten elokuvan raakuus yllätti minut täysin. Tarina oli toki koskettava tai ehkä ravisteleva on kuvaavampi ilmaisu.

Elokuva on suomalaiseksi taidonnäytteeksi erinomainen, mutta henkilökohtaisesti en halua nähdä noin raakoja elokuvia. Elokuvassa oli muutama kohtaus joka sai kyyneelet silmiin ja pariin otteeseen en voinut enää katsoa. Elokuva oli hyvin tehty ja näyttelijävalinnat olivat mielestäni osuneet nappiin. Ehdottomasti katsomisen arvoinen, mutta tuskin tulen koskaan katsomaan sitä uudestaan.

I finally got around visiting the movie theater of Seinäjoki and I have to say I underestimated the Bio Marilyn. The theather was nice. Only downsize was the tickets weren't place tickets so to get good seats you have to arrive on time. Luckly we didn't have that problem.

I went to see a Finnish movie Puhdistus which is based on Sofi Oksanen's book. The movie was directed by Antti J. Jokinen. I haven't read the book so the violence of the movie was suprise for me. The story was touching or shaking is maybe more descriptive expression.

I have to admit that the movie was well made and the actor choices were good but personally I don't want to see brutal movies. There were moments when I just couldn't watch anymore. As a summary the movie was worth watching but I think I will never watch it again.

Apparently Puhdistus is Finland's movie nominee for Oscar's foreign movie category. We'll see how that goes.
